Transparent

Sheer bodysuit picks for when you want to be looked at

A sheer bodysuit is a one piece made almost entirely of transparent fabric, so it dresses the body without hiding it. We make two, the Ombre Mesh Bodysuit at $96 in stretch mesh and the Verre Sheer Bodysuit at $88 in clear tulle, both in sizes XS to 4X.

The guide

Choosing sheer

Ombre or Verre

The two bodysuits look alike in a photo and feel quite different on. The Ombre Mesh Bodysuit is soft stretch mesh that hugs and smooths, and it reads as a shadow over the skin. The Verre Sheer Bodysuit is cut from lighter tulle with very little stretch, so it hangs a touch away from the body and shows everything with glassy clarity.

Color changes everything

Noir is the most forgiving: the dark weave turns skin into a muted outline and suits every tone. Nuit, a deep midnight blue, looks almost black indoors and reveals its color in daylight. Ivoire is the most revealing of all, because a light sheer fabric disappears against the skin and leaves only seams and edges visible. If this is your first transparent piece, start in noir.

Getting the fit right

Sheer fabric shows every wrinkle, so the right size matters more than with lace. The Ombre should feel snug but never compress; the Verre should sit smooth at the shoulders without pulling at the gusset. Check your bust, hips and torso length against our size guide. Long torsos should take the larger size, especially in tulle, which stretches less.

Layering a transparent piece

Wear a sheer bodysuit with nothing beneath for the strongest effect, or add our nipple pasties for a softer first reveal. Over the top, a sheer robe keeps the mood quiet and private; our sexy robes include one in the same tulle. For more coverage with the same one piece line, the lace and strap styles are on our mesh bodysuit page.

How transparency reads in different light

A sheer bodysuit is never the same garment twice, because light rewrites it. In front of a window by day, tulle is almost invisible and the body shows completely, with only seams and edges drawn in black. Under a warm bedside lamp, the same fabric turns into a soft veil that blurs the outline and makes skin look smoother. By candlelight, mesh becomes a shadow and the body seems to appear and disappear as you move.

Use this deliberately. If you want the moment to feel intimate rather than exposed, keep a single low light to the side. If you want to be seen clearly, choose daylight or a lamp in front of you. Mirrors double the effect, which is why a sheer bodysuit in a room with a large mirror is one of the most striking things you can wear.

The color of the light also matters. Warm bulbs flatter ivoire and rose tones, while cooler light makes noir look deeper and the nuit shade of the Ombre come alive.

Care and policy

Hand wash in cool water with the gusset fastened and dry flat, away from heat. Tulle creases if crushed, so store it folded loosely. Both bodysuits are final sale for hygiene reasons; a piece that arrives faulty or is not what you ordered is replaced.
